Pandemic Policing in the UK: Co-POWeR and CoDE share findings

Join Co-POWeR and CoDE to discuss policing during COVID-19 and its implications on state racism and public health law and guidance.

The over-policing of racialised communities increased during the pandemic despite these communities being more vulnerable and needing much more support from state authorities than their white counterparts. This pervasive trend has implications not only for further understanding of state racism but the role of the police during public health crises such as the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Centre on the Dynamics of Ethnicity (CoDE) and the Consortium on Practices of Well-being and Resilience in BAME Families and Communities (Co-POWeR) conducted two separate research projects on the over-policing of racialised minorities during the pandemic. During this 90-minute session, they will be sharing their findings and welcome feedback from the audience.
