Michael Bahrami-Hessari

Michael Bahrami-Hessari was the Community Engagement Coordinator for Co-POWeR until December 2021.

He also served as a Patient and Public Involvement Officer for Research and Development at the University Hospital Southampton. Originally trained as a microbiologist, he spent years working on a diverse range of topics such as bacterial compounds against plant diseases and the link of gut bacteria to different kinds of cancers in humans.

Outside of the lab, he is passionate about science education and worked in a non-profit that developed low-cost science kits for underprivileged public schools in the rural Philippines.

In 2018 he received a postgraduate degree in Science Communication from the University of Manchester.
