Olatundun Gafari is a Public Health Nutritionist trained at the University of Southampton, and an associate registered nutritionist with the Association for Nutrition, UK. She has been actively involved in developing, implementing and evaluating public health programmes aimed at improving nutrition, physical activity and ultimately, good health, among members of the public in Africa and in the UK.

She is currently a researcher at the University of Southampton working on the UKRI funded Co-POWeR project where she is investigating the impact of Covid-19 on the physical activity and healthy eating practices of people from ethnic minority backgrounds within the UK. She is also working as the researcher coordinating the Co-POWeR project’s national survey.

Olatundun is skilled and experienced in conducting mixed methods research, public and community engagement and statistical analysis using various statistical platforms.

Before joining the Co-POWER project, Olatundun worked as the programme coordinator for the health and wellbeing community engagement hub where she developed and coordinated projects such as NutriSkill and the Activity packs programme, aimed at improving nutrition and health while narrowing the digital divide in households within Southampton.

Olatundun’ s research interests are in maternal and child health and nutrition, exploring the associations with long term public health conditions.
